Irritating security check points in Ugandan buildings..

Since September 9/11 terror attacks in the US, there have been increased terror attacks   across East Africa which has led to several security measures. Today building owners have put in place security check points for access control in their buildings. Sometimes the access controls have become a nightmare.

Dirty hands

Have you ever been to building with no metal detectors and the security team resorts to manual methods? Some use bare hands to search you and leave you actually dirty. Imagine wearing your Sunday’s best white cloth and someone helps you make it dirty with your consent.

Bad touches

Sometimes you wonder if there are acceptable levels to touch at these security check points especially by members of the opposite sex when searching.

Security officers turned comedians

Some intentionally over scan obvious areas like around metallic puff hair holders. Some scan the hair pin for over five minutes as though they were in studio making beats. It is an irritating sound for those in a queue.

Undressing

Have you ever been asked to remove a belt, shoes, hair clips, rings, and bracelets before going through check points?

Privacy taken away.

Have you ever done serious shopping downtown Nakasero and you are supposed to empty your bag or shopping bag to the satisfaction of a security guard at some building? A guy had bought a surprise gift for his girlfriend only to be unveiled to his better half at a building check point. Some have suffered losses and embarrashments. If oranges roll out of the package which is hard to recover. Ladies bags are the most affected especially if they are being checked by male security officers.

Bad customer care

Some firms have not trained their guards in good customer care. They do not great and explain to you what they are doing   and how they will do it. Other guards do not even bother to close car boots after opening them. Some guards do not even know what they are looking for. Denying access to people with sophisticated gadgets. Someone takes an hour to accept that you are carrying a hard disk.

Traffic Jam.

Some Security officers contribute to traffic jam around buildings. Sometimes they are too slow and understaffed to work on the big volumes of customers accessing the building.

Turning Security checkpoints into charity collection centres.

Some security officers ask you to donate some coins or stuff that you declare before going through the metal scanner.
